Generations X and Y

Generation X is widely defined as those born between 1961 and 1981. Generation Y, the kids of the oldest Gen Xers, were born between 1981 and 2001. Current research from the Nat’l Assoc of Homebuilders indicates that 37 percent of Generation X intends to buy homes in the next two years, compared to just 13 percent of baby boomers and 6 percent of seniors. Many opportunities exist for real estate agents and Realtors who would like to target Generations X and Y. In this class we will understand how to better serve the needs of this new generation of home buyers and home sellers.
True or False?
Slacker Gen Xers live with their parents longer and therefore are not buying homes at the same age as their boomer parents.
Cynical Gen Xers can’t be influenced much by traditional real estate marketing efforts.
The major motivating factor for Gen X homebuyers is building wealth with home equity.
Pragmatic, disbelieving Gen Xers value detailed, written marketing
communications.
Entertain Generation Y with an off-the-wall slogan instead of going for the formal, traditional motto: Selling the American Dream.
Generation Y is very diverse and very tolerant of diversity. Gen Y buyers actively seek multicultural and unique living situations.
Gen Y is okay with long term renting as long as they feel they are not being taken advantage of.
