In the practice of real estate, drones can be used as a remote control flying camera. The use of drone photography can give homebuyers a radically different perspective of a house, neighborhood, and the indoor tour of a home.

The cost of owning a drone has come down to a few hundred dollars enabling real estate brokers to obtain great pictures and videos of a listing. Drone photo technology is not just for million dollar listings. It has the potential to become the new standard for all listings due to the way homebuyers are utilizing the Internet for their home search well in advance of visiting the property with a real estate broker.

Will listing brokers adopt this as a way to differentiate their services with sellers? Will consumers begin to demand it? The up-front investment in a drone is small, but there is a learning curve, software editing, and laws and rules to follow.
